Cumbria is now home to the UK’s newest university, the University of Cumbria. Specialising in subjects close to the county’s economic heart such as energy, radiology, logistics and outdoor studies, the University is also one of England’s biggest teacher trainers.

Cumbria is also the location for Energus, the £20m world class centre for energy skills, training and business and part of the movement transforming West Cumbria into Britain’s Energy Coast™; a global centre in nuclear and other energy solutions including shore, wind, tidal, oil and gas. It’s for this reason why the National Nuclear Skills Academy is also based in the county. West Cumbria is also home to GENII, a vocational training company which focuses on engineering and technical training in support of the nuclear sector and its supply chain.
