Cumbria is a vast county with many districts hosting a diverse range of business sectors. Cumbria’s capital Carlisle offers a mix of manufacturing, retail and tourism industries whilst Eden Valley and South Lakes, both areas of outstanding beauty, are hotspots for the tourism, outdoor recreation and local food production markets. In west Cumbria lie the historically industrial towns including Barrow-in-Furness, Whitehaven and Workington. All continue to be key areas for the manufacturing and energy industries. Recent activity to regenerate the towns however has also established an expanding tourist market in this part of the County.
