Inward Investment Case Studies
From bottled water companies and healthcare providers to international energy giants – Invest in Cumbria has helped scores of businesses make one of Britain’s most vibrant and diverse business destinations their home.
We have worked closely with home grown businesses such as Stobart Group, M-Sport and BAE Systems to ensure they, and businesses within their supply chains, continue to prosper in Cumbria. We have helped the likes of Neuro Partners, who specialises in brain injury and neurological based treatment and therapy, to set up an office in Carlisle. The company has created more than 100 jobs in Cumbria and, with a little help through our after care programme, continue to go from strength-to-strength by announcing plans to create another 40 to 60 jobs in the County by extending the care services it provides.
Council service provider Liberata, who have set up a call centre in Barrow, received help from us, as did HM Revenue & Customs, who established a new call centre at Lillyhall, Workington. This is in addition to the countless examples of inward investment that has happened without our intervention, such as PartyLite Manufacturing and well-known family care and personal care brands manufacturer Kimberly-Clark, both Barrow; and Kendal Riverside Ltd, who delivered a £100m rebuild of the K Village retail outlet in Kendal.
Invest in Cumbria has also played a key role in supporting the Britain’s Energy Coast initiative by helping organisations such as the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to establish their headquarters in Cumbria, along with multi-national including Studsvik, S.A Robotics, PacTec EPS Ltd, Onet Technologies and PaR Systems Ltd. We work closely with Cumbria’s extensive nuclear supply chain, offering support and advice on growth opportunities and diversification into other energy technologies. We have also supported the creation of various supply chain clusters, in particular to support the construction of huge wind farms off the coast of Barrow – ensuring Cumbrian businesses have the chance to benefit from largely foreign investment.
